After a very successful shakedown cruise to Key West and back..... we're very nearly ready to be Bahamas bound!

Sailing the Chesapeake this summer heading south What has become our annual trip south was very different this year, for two reasons; first we had a crewmate and second, we decided to take Spill The Wine down parts of the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW).  Both were new ground for us. We had some illness in the family, and so we were concerned that at some point one or more of us would have to jump off the boat and return home.  Our solution was to start asking around to see if anyone wanted to sail with us to Florida.   We thought an extra crew mate would give us flexibility in the event Barb had to quickly return home.  Finding that extra crew didn't take long. Check out the Baltimore Landmark "Domino Sugar" sign Other than "Spill The Wine", we actually have a few other names of affection for the boat.  When we are sailing, we like to call her "The Big Fat Pig" because she sits down in the water and gives a comfortable ride... nothing seems to rattle her.  But when we are at dock we call her "The Floating Condo", and that is what she is now.... in her slip, our new downtown Baltimore floating abode.   The Arrival pic: happy to be in Baltimore Maryland We chose Harbor East Marina because it's a sweet section of Baltimore between Inner Harbor and Fells Point.  It's ultra modern with zillions of restaurants and shopping opportunities. The other good news is:  it's about a thirty minute walk to Camden Yards. Go O's! Back in Bimini

Happy to be across the stream It's been a few years since we've been here and it felt great to be back.  We left Key Biscayne at 8:00 a.m. with a 10-15 knot breeze from the northwest.   Surprisingly small waves since there was a northern wind, but that was in the forecast and if the waves had picked up they would be following.   We moved very quickly across the Gulf Stream and pulled into Bimini around 3:00. In front of Stuart's Conch Stand - North Bimini Barb made me bike every street in North & South Bimini... we even loaded the bikes on the ferry which takes you between islands. Barb found the conch stand After biking all of North Bimini we stopped at a conch stand recommended by the dockmaster at Bimini Big Game Club Marina.
